The pathway

How the immigration pilot actually works.

The Rural Community Immigration Pilot lets designated employers in this region hire internationally and put you on a direct path to permanent residency.

One monthly intake cycle Intake open Review 1 8 15 22 31 day of month 7 applications close the intake window 5 recommendations per intake, at most 1 per occupation per month, 2 per year

The steps

The four steps, start to permanent residency.

  1. 01

A designated employer offers you a job

Only a designated employer can support an application, and only in a priority occupation. The current list is public: see the designated employers (PDF).

  2. 02

The employer requests a recommendation from the community

That request comes to this office and a real person reviews it.

  3. 03

    You apply for permanent residency

With the recommendation attached, your file moves on the regional timeline.

  4. 04

    Your family lands

Eastman Immigrant Services helps with housing, schools, language, banking and the first winter. They have done this for more than 4,000 families.

03.4

What it pays

These are provincial figures. Job Bank does not publish a Southeast Manitoba breakout for these occupations, so read them as the Manitoba range and ask a specific employer what they actually pay.

Living here

What it costs and what is in town.

  • 01

    Ownership is in reach

This is the part people move for. Housing here is priced for a single income at a trade wage, which is untrue in most of the places people are leaving.

  • 02

Under an hour to a city

Winnipeg is close enough for a concert, a flight or a specialist appointment, and far enough that you are paying small-city prices to live.

  • 03

    Healthcare and school in town

Bethesda Regional Health Centre, a 73-bed hospital with 24/7 emergency care, surgery and CancerCare. Some of the best English and Francophone schools in Manitoba, plus an RRC Polytech campus.

Eastman Immigrant Services has settled over 4,000 families from 100 countries in the past decade and has won awards for it.

03.8

Moving within Canada

Many people here are coming back.

A lot of the people moving into this region already have a cousin, a parent or a church on the same road. The jobs are real, the housing math works, and the community was built by people who arrived with nothing and stayed.
